Liza Jayne Brown – Prince Albert
“Tansi ! I am a Cree/Metis woman who grew up in North of the Saskatchewan River in a small rural place called Tweedsmuir, which is close to the Emma Lake area. It was the home of my grandparents James & Annie Brown, and my father Gordon Brown raised his family there as well.”
“I fell in love with the world of music at a young age since many of my relatives would play guitar, fiddle and/or sing at family get-togethers. But, I myself did not sing in front of an audience until a few years ago. I am greatly influenced by classic country, folk and the rhythm & blues, but do love many other genres. I would probably describe my music as contemporary Aboriginal/Country/Folk/Blues genre, maybe more of a “roots” artist. I love the creative process of writing songs & as for singing for an audience; I have discovered it is a great way to connect with people and enjoy the joys that music brings”.
“I am currently working towards putting out an EP of some of my original songs by the late summer of 2012. My EP will be titled “Facing the Storm” and the songs on it will be about love & heartbreak, survival, remembering, resilience, joy in life & letting go & being open to new growth. Much Love & Peace”.
